Skin Appeal Day Spa hosted their annual “Teacher Makeover” Contest during the month of November. Throughout the month they had hundreds of Students, parents and co-workers drop off one page essays at both their Stafford and Massaponax locations. The essays were amazing and heartfelt descriptions of why each specific teacher or faculty member would be the most deserving of a day of pampering at Skin Appeal Day Spa.
The essays came from as far north as Woodbridge and south to Orange County. This was a true community event, allowing everyone to write the spa about that special person who positively impacts our leaders of tomorrow.
After several of the Skin Appeal Day Spa staff members read through all of the nominations, they were faced with the making a very difficult decision of who they thought was the most deserving person for this makeover. The decision was made that the winner would be Nanette Marquette of Widewater Elementary School.
On Sunday, December 9th, they invited Nanette to spend the day at Skin Appeal Day Spa, where she would not only spend time with them, but they also invited her friend and co-worker, Sandra Davidson, who had nominated her, to join her. Nanette is a special education teacher for students with learning disabilities. Sandra described Nanette as putting her all in to her job, and as a sincere and dedicated worker who strives to do her very best, while ensuring that her students learn and work to their abilities and are included throughout their day. Sandra also told Skin Appeal that Nanette does struggle with MS, but she tries her hardest to work through it to help her students. She doesn’t complain or list the things she cannot do, she does everything that these students could possible want or need.
On Sunday the staff at Skin Appeal Day Spa generously donated their time to help make Nanette’s day magical. They started off with a spa manicure, followed by a side by side spa pedicure with her friend Sandra. After sharing lunch together and relaxing at the spa, they completed their day with the perfect haircut and make-up application together.
Nanette and Sandra received gift certificates to come back to Skin Appeal Day Spa and enjoy a facial or massage. Before they left the spa they both received a rose, a box of chocolate covered strawberries from Edible Arrangements, and an elegant bag of Spa product’s as a special gift. Skin Appeal Day Spa said that they hope to see them both back at the spa together to enjoy the massage or facials that they received.
As an added surprise, since Widewater Elementary School had one of their teachers as the chosen contest winner, Skin Appeal Day Spa will be providing all students and Faculty members with a gift certificate to enjoy at either their Stafford or Massaponax locations.
